Charla grew up in Spanish Harlem, New York where she wanted to achieve a career as a singer. But given the fact that she put her dreams on hold to raise a family, and take care of her sick mother. Singing, and writing songs are very important parts of Charla’s life. Her creativity and expression through music and entertainment bring joy to her life and drive her passion to succeed.
With the acute ability to multi-task, Charla is a very hard-working person believing that good things are earned by those who work hard for it. Charla loves a variety of music genres such as Hip Hop, Blues, RnB, Dance, Rap, Country, Jazz and Latino Music, you name it. Her love for music has propelled her to pursue her lifelong dreams of being a solo artist with her very own style. She does both cover, and original.
Charla Joined up with Charles Alexander, and became a producer for a popular Children TV Show KIDFEST, and GOSPELFEST in 1989 and then became a background voice for some of the characters that were on the show. In 2009 Charla became a studio backup singer with the Charles Alexander Revue Band, and was released on the Christmas song “MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYDAY” that was released in 2009.
Charla and Charles Alexander did a duet together in 2013 called: “COULD YOU LOVE ME“, and “IN THE MIDDLE OF THIS CROSSROAD” That became very popular, however apart from working hard to see her goals achieved, Charla wrote a song and wanted to get someone to sing it. Instead Charles Alexander helped to rewrite the song and asked her to sing it. Charla’s sultry soulful voice will grow on you. Laced with impacting lyrics and great music she can do it. Charla sung the song “MORE THAN FRIENDS”, and is now working on an album. You will be hearing a lot from her.
